Cruise
Just booked a 3-night Carnival cruise to the Bahamas. It's relatively inexpensive, and it will be warm, and it's not something we've ever done together. All our vacations are to shitty-weather places like Glasgow and Iceland (Iceland was pretty nice, actually, but it sounds like it would be cold.) So will we be the only people on the ship our age, without kids? And who will they seat us next to at dinner. Do they try to set you up with other couples they think you'll get along with? |

Ladies Pantaloons
97% cotton, 3% spandex. And that's all it takes, 3% spandex, to make my rad new corduroys a blessing and a curse at the same time. As a lady, I love that I can squeeze my wide bottom into pants that are one size smaller than I should probably wear. Makes me feel like all that hard work only eating one chocolate a day instead of ten really paid off! The 3% spandex allows pants I put on in the morning to still fit in the afternoons, or at least permit me to sit without changing my religion, no matter how big my lunch. But the curse of 3% spandex in my cotton blend, the peanut butter in my chocolate as it were, is that the lovely stretch invariably coincides with a new habit of perpetually hiking up my pants all the live-long day. Even now, sitting with my legs crossed, I can feel the 3% ganging up on the 97% and stretching and stretching so that by the time I stand up again, I'll be treading on the cuffs and have that weird flat front thing going on. Still, these cords are pretty sweet. I guess with most things in life, you just gotta take the peanut butter in your chocolate. Especially if it's shaped like a Christmas tree or an Easter egg 'cause those are the BEST. |

Day 2 of the New Year
How's it going so far for you? I'm pretty satisfied. I've spent half the new decade in bed and a good third of the days eating so...AWESOME! No resolutions for me except to run a race this year (maybe a half marathon, too?!), take the reins more often, and embrace a more loving attitude. Some of you might say I don't need to work on that last one but I think we could all, always, be more loving to ourselves and others. Oh, and mo' money, mo' money, mo' money. See? I'm not JUST a silly hippie underneath. I can be tawdry, too. OK, so how's your new decade so far? |

Family Christmas in Sin City I went to Las Vegas recently for a family Christmas and all I got was this lousy good time. Vegas was pretty much what I expected, a playground for deep pockets. The best thing about it is the feeling of being far from obligations or responsibilities or any semblance of the day-to-day. I had a wonderful and indulgent time, though nothing happened that I had to leave in Vegas (damn), and I'm glad I went. I don't feel the need to ever go back. Unless you're paying, friend. The collection of pics for those who like to watch. |
